Dry powder inhalers (DPI)

Similar to the (p)MDIs, DPIs also require an additional verification of the quality of the drug product in combination with intended inhaler device. While the particulate formation in (p)MDIs is solely generated by the device itself, in DPIs the patient has an influence on the formation of the fine particle fraction and the overall intake of the drug substance by action of inhalation. The simulation of reproducible "deep inhalations" is of decisive importance to generate reliable scientific results.
