Cell-based bioassay
Quantitative analyses, in which living cells are used, pose a particular challenge in a GMP lab. In order to perform a cell-based assay with consistent quality over multiple years, it is necessary to control a large number of critical parameters. These include not only the organisation, timely procurement and re-qualification of critical reagents, but also highly trained personnel in the lab who, in addition to implementing sterile working techniques, have a good eye for the condition of cell cultures. In our cell culture lab, we are permitted to handle cell cultures, which are classified as Bio-Safety Level 1 (BSL1) and genetically modified organisms classified as safety level 1 (S1).
